PET TRAINING

Trudy and I are trying dog training -- again.  We first went when she was 10 months old and we failed miserably.  She was so shy and afraid, she would hide under my chair and bark.  So, we tried socializing with doggie day camp.  Again, we failed.  She would hide in the corner with her head hanging.  The best it ever got was she would hide in the corner with her head held up. I have no grandiose idea of her ever collecting the newspaper.  But, I would like to see less barking, less jumping up on people as they come into the house, and not pulling like a galloping horse while on a leash.

Trudy will be four in June and what a difference a few years make.  This time she is engaged.  Interested in all the dogs that are there.  No barking, and no head hanging.  Wahoo!  This training is all about the "clicker" and "treats".  So I made this cute little fabric lanyard to hold the clicker so it will always be with me hands free during training.

And, so far, so good.

As a side benefit,  Gracie is learning very quickly that when the clicker makes that noise a treat can't be too far away.  But, Gracie is 10 and much better behaved.

We have only had one session out of six.  I'll let you know how it goes.  In the meantime

MAKE-IT-MONDAY

It feels like Spring, finally.  So I picked out a project I've been wanting to make and some springy fabric.
Happy fabric just makes sewing easier don't you think?

FINISHED-ON-FRIDAY (Wk 17)

Here are my house blocks.  I made a few extra for good measure.  I have two dogs, so you know that meant that there had to be dogs in the block.   I have a poochon  and a mini schnauzer.  Poodle fabric is everywhere; not so much schnauzer fabric.  But, since I like all dogs, any doggie in the window works for me.

And a little closer:

The houses didn't have to be wonky.  However, most of the girls are making wonky houses.  I call mine wacky-wonky house blocks.  I can't wait to get all 18 together and come up with a wonky-good quilt.  Hope you have a good weekend planned and
Quilt happy,
Marilyn

MAKE-IT-MONDAY

I wasn't going to be home this week.  However, my plans fell through and this container of fabric was going with me for this week's project.  I am still going ahead with my plans and I am even going to tell you what I will be making.

I am in a house block swap.  The swap has you making 18 house blocks that represent you in some way.  I have plans for getting them all done by Finished-on-Friday.  Fingers crossed.  Now to get started.

FINISHED-ON-FRIDAy (Wk 16)

I was going to make each placemat with a different fabric pocket and binding.  I had a lot of green; but, as you can see it really doesn't have enough contrast.  And, most of the red I had was orange red.  So, I broke my rule and bought that great red fabric.

Good news is the recipient likes both the green and the red.  So I am sending all of them.  Have a good weekend and

FINISHED-ON-FRIDAY (WK 15)

I found this cute shopping organizer at "2 Little Hooligans" blog over here.  I think it will be perfect for lists or note taking and packing those coupons and maybe your reward cards.

I had a bunch of these 5 x 8 note pads so I decided to just enlarge it to fit.  I also had to swap out the polka dot I had first selected for another to get a decent contrast.  Luckily, I have a polka dot collection.  Wishing you a good weekend and

MAKE –IT-MONDAY

I bought this hand dyed fabric last year at Long Beach Quilt Festival. At least I think I did. And, I found the perfect little project using the ½ yard plus a little extra fabric from my stash.

I hope you have a good week and

FINISHED ON FRIDAY (WEEK 14)

I can think of a few uses for these little cases -- perhaps a few business cards. Or maybe attach it to your key chain with a few dollars and your driver’s license when you don’t want to take your purse. I found the pattern in “100 Pretty Little Projects” by Lark Crafts. My daughter went through the book the last time she was here and marked it “I love this”.

I wonder which one she wants. I’m keeping this one.

Have a good weekend and

MAKE-IT-MONDAY

This fabric and the swivel rings are for a cute little item my daughter requested.  If I have time, I may sew a few of them.

Hope you have a fun week planned.
