FINISHED ON FRIDAY (Wk. 35)

Turns out that I managed to get all three made this week and work on my "secret" projects.

Aren't they just so stinkin' cute?  The pattern is Fat Quarter Shop's Diva Frame Wallet designed by Jessica Van Denburgh.   It is a very well-written pattern.  Another photo of the wallets opened.

Which one is your favorite now that you see them finished?  My favorite keeps changing.  These are going to make great gifts come Christmas.  Now back to working on my "secret" projects.

Have a great weekend and

MAKE-IT-MONDAY

My BFF, Robin, and I are getting together today to make this Diva Frame Wallet.  Only thing is, I have yet to decide on which two fat quarters to use.  Do I need to make three?  Rather doubt I'll get that far.  I'm still working on my secret sewing.

Which one's would you pick?

FINISHED-ON-FRIDAY (WK 34)

Here is what I managed to get done with those left-over charms (what I can show you at least).  I made these before and you can find the tutorial on Geta's Quilting Studio.

They make up quickly and are quite useful.

Now, for what would you use them?  Threads, notions, candy, potpourri? Just wondering.

MAKE-IT-MONDAY (Wk 34)

This week I have a couple of projects to make that I cannot show you.  Not even a peek.  But, in between working on these two projects, I will be working on a small project as well.

I love pre-cuts.  Especially charms, and  I use a lot of them.  I am putting some things together using my left-over charms.

I hope to be showing you on Friday how I used these charms.  Or at least some of them.

Have a good week and

FINISHED ON FRIDAY (Wk. 33)

My quilt room is so nice and bright now with all the added lights that sewing has been a pleasure these past few days.

This week has been dedicated to both quilt guilds to which I belong: Orange Grove Quilters Guild in Garden Grove and Quilters by the Sea in Long Beach.  Orange Grove Quilters Guild is having a Tea and Auction on October 19, 2013.  And, Quilters by the Sea will be holding their quilt show on October 26 -27, 2013.  Both guilds will be holding a boutique and are looking for some quilty items to sell.  I made some of these earlier in the year, and I will probably make a few more, or at least finish the kits I have already assembled.

First, I made four sofa arm pincushions (or chair arm pincushions).

Next, I made four notebook covers.  This is Robin Gallagher's pattern and you can find the pattern on her website here.

Then I sewed four card cases.  I use one I made a while ago, for my driver's license and ATM card, and have attached my keys.  It makes for a quick run somewhere that you don't want to take your purse.

Lastly, I sewed four (do you see a pattern here) travel iron cozies.  Don't you hate it when you go to pack up at the end of a workshop and your iron is still too hot to put away?  Problem solved.

Have a great weekend and

Quilt happy,

I have had this container full of small-project kits ready to go for some time now.

This is the perfect week to tackle them because I am having a bit of work done in my sewing room and have moved my sewing machine and design wall out to the family room to sew.  What a mess.  Oh well, it will all be worth it in the end.

Have a good week and

Quilt happy,

WE HAVE A WINNER!

The winner of the Sofa Pincushion is Mimi.

Mimi said...

That would be so handy!!! Thanks for the chance. At the moment I am handquilting a lap quilt that I made for my SIL... it's only one and a half months late (eek!) but when it is done and she sees it, late won't mean a thing!!!
– 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
– 1/4 tsp ground ginger
– 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
– 3/4 Cup fresh squeezed orange juice (approx 3 oranges)
– 1/4 Cup fresh squeezed lemon juice (approx1-2 lemons)

DIRECTIONS:
Bring water to a boil; add cranberry juice, reduce heat to low
Add cinnamon, ginger, & nutmeg, stir and let simmer for 20 minutes; let it cool down to room temperature
Stir in orange & lemon juices...Add ice and enjoy!
I will be contacting you via email for your snail-mail address.  And, you will need to share a picture of your project once it is done Mimi.

Have a good week and

MY SPECIAL WEEK

Lucky me.  My granddaughter and her bestie visited me from Florida for a week.  They had a fun time visiting Southern California.  Besides taking in a John Mayer concert and a day at the Huntington Beach Surf Competition, Grams did a few things with them.

A shopping day at the shore.

A trip into Hollywood and an old-fashioned movie theater (complete with curtains that part and raise).

A visit to FIDM in downtown Los Angeles.

And, lunch at Phileppe the Original.

Yesterday they spent at Knott's Berry Farm while this Grams went to the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach.

But, today they are making their way back to Florida.  I am going to miss their beautiful spirits.  Looking forward to our next visit girls!

Have a great weekend and

Quilt happy,
