CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE FOR SEPTEMBER

Back to that Christmas in July Swap with Amanda.   September's Christmas challenge is a Christmas-themed doll.  I am NOT a doll maker; but, I thought I might be able to come up with something that could work.  I received a sewing project book for my birthday and found that "perfect for me" project that just might fit the bill. Then I found this wool remnant at Joann's, and a few other bits and pieces to start the process.

Here lies the poor unstuffed thing.

After a few more embellishments, Angie the Cat Angel is born.  She is very sweet and perhaps the only stuffed doll-like creature I will ever make.  Now, I wonder if Noelle will like it?

CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE FOR AUGUST

Amanda has a Christmas challenge going and for August we are to make a table centerpiece.  I should have sewn something.  I could have.  But instead,  I decided on  seashells and pine cones.  It is too early in the year to be able to find some spruce or pine sprigs, so, I am using some leaves from my Camellia bush.  Well just try to find something better right now in Southern California.  Or at least in my backyard.  I had the seashells and my daughter sent me the pine cones from Florida.  Seems they have some on their property. The red is some raffia strewn about for color.    I'll use Christmas greenery come December.

Cheers,

Marilyn

CHRISTMAS IN JULY TABLE RUNNER

Amanda over at http://amanda-lotshappening.blogspot.com/ is having a Christmas Challenge. June was a Christmas ornament and this is the July challenge: a Christmas table runner. I took a class in June with Patricia Pepe http://www.patriciapepe.com/ using her wonderful tool, the X-Block. And, this is what I came up with. I can't even remember buying this fabric. But, I always buy fabric that has poodles on it. It became the perfect piece for this project. The table runner isn't due until July 31st. But, after taking a close look at my calendar for the next couple of weeks, I realize that I have a very busy schedule.
So, this is it. Finished. Including poodle bling.

Quilt happy,

CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE - ORNAMENT

I joined a Christmas challenge with Amanda (http://amanda-lotshappening.blogspot.com/ ) For the month of June, we were to create a Christmas ornament in any medium. Here is my finished ornament. It is using the English Paper Piecing method. I just decorated a square cube with some beading and ribbon. That's a bell on the bottom. My friend Pat Barton was a great big help in this. Thanks Pat. Be sure and go check out all the great ornaments rolling in on Amanda's blog. Next month it is a Christmas table runner. I have it started thanks to the X-Block workshop.
