FINISHED-ON FRIDAY (Week 12)

I did have to shop for D-Rings to finish this week’s project:  belts, six belts. 

I cut up those charm packs from Monday, added some fusible interfacing to give them some body and a couple of D-rings and voila.  Aren't they cute?  A little birdie told me that my older granddaughters would like these.

TWO MORE FINISHES

My daughter put in a request for quilts for a couple of her favorite charities.  I’m not sure if they will be raffled or not.  I had these two quilt tops hanging out begging to be quilted.

 

 

The backing of the Pips jelly roll quilt is fabric from Ikea.  Love using their fabric for backings.  And, the backing on the 2nd quilt "Lazy Day at the Lake" is from Australia.  I think both are happier now that they are finished and awaiting a home.

This weeks project will use up some charms packs.  I thought I had a boat load of D-Rings.  However, it looks like shopping is in order.

FINISHED-ON FRIDAY (Wk 11)

It is such a small little thing and so fast, it is almost embarrassing.  Almost. 

 

But, it may be useful if you find yourself on a walk and wanting a place to keep a few dollars and a house key. 

So for good measure here is another little project – even simpler to make. 

A magnetic pincushion.  I really like this one.  And, I know I will like it even more when I am at the design wall.  You can find the patterns here and here.

MAKE-IT-MONDAY

QUILTING STILL NEEDED

I’ve been busy quilting.  I had/have a huge “quilting-still-needed” pile.  These five are now done.  One was mailed to “Operations Homefront California” for a collective young military family baby shower in San Diego.  One was mailed to my granddaughter in Florida to get to her friend Ashley in Georgia.  One was mailed to my mom in Arizona.  And, the other two will go to Quilters by the Sea Quilt Guild Community Services next week. 

 I’m hoping to have another similar burst of energy to get more of that “quilting-still-needed” pile finished.  Have a good weekend and

FINISHED-ON FRIDAY

Can you tell what it is?

 

Yes.  It’s a dog bed.  One side of the pillow is for when it’s warm, and the other side, the fleece side, is for those colder days. 

Robin was over on Monday and we consulted over this a bit and her final advice was to go buy one.  She was right you know.  But, then again I’m very stubborn.  I really thought perhaps the dogs wouldn’t mind just a pillow.  But, nooooooooooooo.  For the bolster I used a package of high-loft polyester batting.  Rolled and tied it.  Then I needed to figure out how to make the ends look right.  I finally had to go to Joann’s for some piping.  Oh, sure I could have made my own, but really enough is enough.

Once I got it together, and threw it on the floor (not even completely put together properly) Gracie jumped in it and has claimed it as hers. 

There is room for both dogs; but, she will not let Trudy near it.  Siblings. 

It makes a good dog bed for the quilt room.  Oh, there are two beds in there.  Trudy is not left out completely.

HAS THIS EVER HAPPENED TO YOU?

I really wanted to use this fabric for the binding and even cutting it at 2 ¼” I could only muster up 6 strips.  I joined it end to end instead of on the diagonal hoping that would do it.  And, off I went  -- blissfully sewing until OOPS!

And this was what I had left.  What would you do?

Me too.  Carry on!

MAKE-IT-MONDAY

I don’t have a pattern per se for this week’s project.  I have been looking around in many places and will be winging it.  I selected this fabric because it is my stash.  After all, that is my goal.  And, I have it on good authority that the user won’t mind.

ANOTHER QUILT ON ITS WAY

When my granddaughter, Maddie and her friend, Ashley (both 13 at the time) were here last summer, I held some sewing lessons.  Because neither had ever sewn before, I decided the jelly roll race quilt would teach straight sewing with an emphasis on sewing a ¼” seam.  Today I finally quilted that lesson for them.  I think Ashley is getting the quilt, because as Maddie said, “I have a few from you Grandma”. 

Turned out pretty good I think for their first ever quilt.
