I think most of
Southern California has had the creeping crud; but that has finally passed
now. My birthday block quilt is on hold
for another week at least. I did get a few
things done, however.
Back in October, I
think it was then, a member of my friendship group offered up a challenge. She presented it in a very fun way. She had
been traveling and picked up some quilty items as she visited quilt shops
throughout the middle part of the United States. She has a wonderful husband
who turns the car toward quilt shops for her. Yay Jim! In with the gifts was the same fat quarter
for everyone. The challenge (if we chose to accept) was to create
"anything" using the fat quarter and the color of the ribbon on the
bag. It was due at our retreat we have the first week in April. I took
a class from Joe Cunningham and used his technique for this pillow. Then I added some big-stitch quilting for some added texture.
Pretty cute don't
you think? Thanks Pat, it was a heap of fun! Here are those of
us who chose to accept the challenge.
It might be hard to see; but, the are a couple of bags, a pair of pajama bottoms, an apron, a whole quilt, and mug rugs. Pam made mug rugs for each and every one of us. Terri made a table runner; but, was unable to come at the last minute.
One of the things
I accomplished at the retreat is an apron for my granddaughter. She requested one since she is now living and working in Salt Lake City. She and her roommate are doing some cooking for
themselves. Here is her apron. I think she likes it!
Hope
you have a good week and
Quilt happy,
Marilyn
