EMERALD QUILT CONTINUED

So far, these fourteen blocks have been put together.

I have packed up the entire sewing area until after next week.  Although, my daughter wants to sew tomorrow.  I think I will just help her at this point and wait on Emerald until later.

I'm cooking for eight on Thanksgiving.  It has been a very long time since I have cooked a Thanksgiving dinner.  I hope it turns  out okay.

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate.  It's my favorite holiday!

MORE EMERALD QUILT PROGRESS

It is slowly coming together.  Here it is so far.

I'm not sure how far it will get until after Thanksgiving.  My grands get all of next week off.  And, I will be holding knitting lessons.  Yes, it is a special request.  They want headbands and scarves.  They have discovered how to "Send" me pins on Pinterest.  Subtle hints??

Have a great weekend and

HSTs

Today I made 142 HSTs (Half-Square Triangles) the old fashioned way.

That's right.  By drawing a line corner to corner and stitching 1/4" on either side.  Yes, I know there are HST papers for that.  And normally I would have used them.  But, I am traveling and I do not have any with me.  And, they needed to be 2 and 3/4" square.  Yes I did square up all 142 of them.  Can you say, tired shoulders and back?

ANOTHER FINISH

I have had the pleasure to quilt with my daughter most of the week.  And, I was able to finish my Bento Box quilt top.

I love it.  Do you see Gracie photo bombing?

My daughter's quilt will need to remain a secret for a while.  It is going to be a gift.

Today I am off to my grandson's Veteran's program.  A little late I know.  But,  there were some unexpected events at his school last week.  I'm excited to be able to take in some of these events, except this takes place at 8:30 in the morning.  Really?

Have a great weekend and

A FINISH

Well almost.  A finished quilt top at least.  It is from the book "Successful Scrap Quilts" by Sandy Turner and Margaret Rolfe.

I am pretty sure it won't get quilted until I get home.  I still have plenty to work on.

I pulled this put-together kit out to get started on this week.

I have always wanted to make a Bento Box and this has been cut up and ready to go for at least a year.  Another one I grabbed to go.  Not sure how far I will get on it this week.  I'll let you know on Friday.  May be just all play.  One can only hope.

Have a good week and

Quilt happy,

SUNDAY SNAPS

This week's prompts:

P is for ..... (Pearl) - We took the little grands to a local restaurant that has an alligator, swamp-like thingy.  And Pearl here has her own spot.  Seems as if an albino alligator doesn't stand much of a chance out there.  I guess alligators can be bullies.  Apparently, they are building her nicer digs.  Poor Pearl.

Table - Had a nice breakfast at this table.

I collect ..... (Fabric) - No surprises here.

Music - These little ones are making their own music.  Future rock stars?

Yes - Nothing too creative here.

Mine- Just turn that M upside down and it is Wine.  Besides, this Wine is Mine.

Enjoy your week and

Quilt happy,

Marilyn

PROGRESS REPORT

I really did not sew all week.  I managed to get in a few distractions.  I even went to the local quilt guild's (Flying Needles) Sit and Sew.  A very fun group of women.  But, then they are quilters. Always a fun group of people.

I did put the pedal to the metal though and got all the quilt blocks made for the quilt top.  Oh how I miss my design wall.  Maybe I will pick up some batting and rig up something.  Here's where I am so far.

This is from a Hoffman Bali Pop, maybe 2 of the same. I cannot remember. But, I do know it would be the same one.  The pattern from, "Successful Planned Quilts", called for 2" by 3" blocks.  I could have tweaked it and used the 2.5" strips.  But, I was afraid it may be a bit clunky, therefore, I cut each strip down to 2".  That was not very fun.  But, the quilt itself is not very difficult.  Still, I like this kind of modern look.  I hope to have it finished by the end of the week.  Sunday Snaps on Sunday.

Have a great weekend and

Quilt happy,

I'M SEWING

Yes, I'm sewing.  I finally got myself set up to sew.  Gee it feels good.  I have had this cut out ready to go for probably over a year.  So, when I packed my car for travel, I stuck this and a few more quilt tops I have cut and ready to go.

It's nice not to have to make fabric decisions.  I find that takes almost as much time as putting it all together.  I'll give you a progress report on Friday.

Have a good week and

Quilt happy,

Marilyn

SUNDAY SNAPS

This week's prompts:

My daughter and I drove from California to Florida (along with my two dogs) this week.  I will be enjoying an extended visit.  I have tried to fit the prompts to the trip.

Peaceful - believe it or not, it was a peaceful trip with my fur girls.  The just nestled down into their beds and behaved.

Just for me - a nice glass of red and some TV after a long day.

Hair -  Trudy has bed beard when she wakes up.  This always crakes me up.

Wet - Our first day in Florida was wet!

Treat - Even the pets get a treat on Halloween.

Fruit - Love raspberries for breakfast.

I did this today - enjoyed a quiet morning on the back porch while Trudy investigated her new digs.

Enjoy your week and

Quilt happy,

Marilyn
