I QUILTED FEATHERS.....REALLY

I just got back from a Cindy Needham machine quilting workshop.  What a fabulous time everyone had.  Cindy does heirloom quilting.  And, she is soooo good.  I will never be that heirloom quilter; but, oh golly did I have a good time.   Here are a few photos for show and tell:

Above is the sample I worked on.  I was afraid to make my sample block on solid silk or even a solid color.  This is part of a panel.

But, here is the back of my sample. 

I learned a lot.  And, mostly I learned to get out of my box and not fear this kind of quilting; but, to just have fun with it.  And, now I’m off to practice, practice, practice.

Remember when I told you that once in a while I knit?  I finished that scarf and I will be sending it out this week in time for a birthday.  I made a cute accessory bag to use as a gift bag.

I also am leaving for a machine-quilting workshop with Cindy Needham.  Gosh, It's hard to  believe how much has to be packed for five days.

SATURDAY'S SEWING

Today I am taking a hand quilting class with a friend.  Here is my project; and, I am still basting.

It’s a “cheater” panel.  But, I think it will be perfect as a practice piece.  Can’t you just see miles and miles of bling on this?  I sure can.

Yesterday my BFF and I did a bit of Two Wacky Women shopping.  We started out in downtown Los Angeles.  Look what I found for one wacky woman.

I’m thinking this will make some quick and easy placemats.

I'm also making more quilts for our veterans.  It's a start.

ANOTHER FINISH

Wahoo!  It's done.  The Gee's Bend quilt.  If you are not familiar with this style, you can read about it here.  I know this is not every one's cup of tea; but, I love this one and I am keeping it.  And, it fulfills one of my challenges for  QBS.

Don't you just love that backing?  Ikea; and, it fits without piecing.
