SUNDAY SNAPS

"HOMEMADE" - What else, quilts.

"WINDOW" - They say that eyes are the window to the soul.

"IN A ROW" - I'm in a row by row swap. This is my row.

"COLLECTION" - I'm not at home to get to my collections; but, I love and have a lot of thread.  I suppose you could call it a useful collection.

"SOMETHING FAR AWAY" - My favorite local In-N-Out is far away from me right now.

"PLAY TIME" - For me this means working with fabric.

"BLACK & WHITE" - This is Chester.

I hope you have a good week and

Quilt happy,

SUNDAY SNAPS

Day 12 - "BRIGHT" I do believe that this is my brightest quilt.

Day 13 - "LUCKY NUMBER"  I don't really have a lucky number; but, I have a favorite number: 5.  However, on this clock it is coral.  I like coral.

Day 14 - "NEW"  My newest thing is this mug I picked up at a great breakfast spot.  They serve their coffee in these mugs and I couldn't resist.  Excellent marketing.

Day 15 - "OLD"  My Gracie is really beginning to show how old she is.  Besides her cataracts, she is having more and more difficulty getting up and down things.

Day 16 - "NATURE"  This bit of nature is just in the back yard. It is very inviting to the local birds and squirrels.  Unfortunately, I didn't catch a photo when they were visiting.

Day 17 - "JUMP"  Will you let me jump up on your lap pleeeease?

Day 18 - "TODAY IS"  the day Noelle and I build her fairy garden to attract fairies. First, you prep their new home.

We had to move it to their more permanent location.  So, it had to be protected in the car seat.

It is completely assembled.  Now to wait for the wheat grass to grow.  Then it will be put outside in a special place.  However,   I understand fairies are quite secretive and may still be hard to spot.

I hope you have a good week and
Quilt happy,

Marilyn

SUNDAY SNAPS

Day 5 - "SQUARE" I see quilts everywhere.  Even this sofa pillow would make a great quilt.

Day 6 - "ROUND"  Nothing like a good ol' hamburger.  And, Tucker Duke's in Valparisso, Florida is just about as good as it gets!

Day 7 - "I'M READING"  this pattern.  By the way, it is one of Robin Gallagher's most popular patterns.

Day 8 - "LANDSCAPE"  Urban landscape that is.  This is The Grove in West Los Angeles, one of my favorite spots.

Day 9 - "PATTERN"  This Zentangle was drawn by my granddaughter, Madeline.  I love it!

Day 10 - "HELLO"  Do you still have a landline?  Mine is only hooked up to my fax machine.

Day 11 - "I SEE"  a variety of emotions here.

I hope you have a good week and
Quilt happy,

Marilyn

SEWING COMMITMENTS

Have you started your year with commitments:  Sewing commitments that is?  You know those Block of the Months AKA BOMs, on-line swaps, friendship group swaps.  How about all of them, like I have done.  Oh yes I have.  Seriously.

I joined the Hexie Blog's BOM.  I couldn't resist after getting hooked on making the little darlings (thanks Melinda).  You can read about this year's BOM here.  Here is mine done in 1" hexies (I will also be doing one in 3/4").  I have decided not to appliqué it down to anything until after I see what next month's block will be.

I am also doing an on-line swap with a group of wonderful gals.  It is called the "ATW Swap".   It stands for Around The World, which is where the blocks will be headed.  We are supposed to pick and make a 9" block that represents us in some way.  Each person sends to the list members a fat eighth piece of fabric for you to incorporate into their block and return the finished block back to that person.  So at the end you will receive a variety of blocks that have a common piece of fabric tying it all together.  The block I'm making and sending out something like this one.

I also belong to a friendship group that meets once a month (we call ourselves Talking Threads or TTs), and we are making birthday blocks.  So the meeting during your birthday month you will receive from each member,  a block that you chose (either by pattern or theme).  I chose "What's In My Garden" .  It can be anything from flowers to critters, any size, any style.  I'm easy, and I can't wait to see what people come up with.

My friendship group of at least 11 years (we meet every Wednesday and call ourselves the Wednesday Wackos) is also doing a BOM. We have each made a block of our choice and will be passing it on to each other (you can send fabric if you wish) to make a block that goes with it.  A few have picked out a particular pattern, while others have picked a theme:  fall, Christmas, stars...you get the idea  At the end of the year,  the blocks  will be returned to the owner for assembly.  I chose a 12" finished block using Australian fabrics.  Here is my block that will be passed from person to person:

I hope you are enjoying your week and
Quilt happy,

Marilyn

WAVING HELLO!!

Did you think I had fallen off the face of the earth?  Naw!  Just a series of things that have kept me away.
One is I drove (a friend helped me; thanks Pam) from California to Florida and I have been visiting with my family.
Another reason is somehow my blog was compromised and I decided that it was a good time to give it a rest.  But,  my BFF (thanks Robin)  alerted me on how to fix it.  Seems it had happened to her at some time.
I have heard from a few of you wondering what was up.  My grandson, Zach,  would point out that I shouldn't end a sentence with a preposition.  He's right of course; but, I'm not fixin' it.
You know I had great hopes of getting lots of sewing done while here.  I even brought my design wall and put it together.  But, I haven't done all that much after all (oh there I go again).  What's up with that?  I even quit doing my photo-a-day.  Time to get back to all of this.  So, here are my photos for the first week of 2015.

Day 1 - SKY - This was taken in Panama City out a restaurant window.  Lovely view and lots of sky.

Day 2 - YELLOW - I have become addicted to hexies.  I am just going to make lots of flowers with black centers and then figure out what to do with them.

Day 3 - ME TODAY - Badly in need of a haircut.

Day 4 - I HEAR - Thunder and rain which happens a lot in this neck of the woods.

I sincerely hope your holidays have been some of the best you have ever had and that 2015 will bring you good health and happiness.

Quilt happy,

Marilyn
