I have been playing with those half-square triangles.
But, there are a lot to sew together. Not to mention, sometimes sewing it twice. Sigh......

LADYBUGS
A friend of mine, Nora (she lives in Switzerland) is always
sending me wonderful things via email.
This is something she sent this week:
Aren’t they just so darn cute?
I wrote her back that my stepson had given me an Army helmet that had
been made into a ladybug years ago. She
asked that I send a picture. So, I
did.

A BUNCH OF HSTs
My newest project is all blue and white HSTs (half-square triangles). It takes 320 of the little darlings; and, by the way, it is taking
longer than anticipated.
But I will tell you that I already know this quilt is going to be one of my
favorites.

SUNDAY SNAPS
SUNDAY SNAP SYNOPSIS (April 22, 2012)
Brussel Sprouts is “Something I don’t Like”. Sorry, you cannot convince me to like them. Be it steamed, raw, roasted, with tons of bacon even. I just don't like them.
I was going to gather a bunch of “Orange” for the photo; but, these were so gorgeous in the grocery store.....
My favorite olive oil comes in this “Bottle”.
Quilt happy, Marilyn
The first word this week is “Flower”. I love this fushia. As a child, my grandmother always grew fushias and I planted one in her honor.
I did a bit of camouflage to my “Hair” this week. It was looking a lot like a backyard possum.

CHARITY QUILT & COMPANY
The charity quilt is finally finished and in the stack to go to next month's guild meeting.
I almost always pick out a busy backing (you can see less errors that way); but, this was already put together for quilting. Someone had made the backing to fit and even had the binding put together and pressed. What a great way to get help from members. It was so easy to just layer and quilt. The backing they put together for this quilt is plain. I sucked it up and in the end it turned out just fine.
I have a friend, Jenny Hall, visiting me from New Zealand. Yesterday we went to the Bower's Museum in Santa Ana. A Schindler's List survivor, Laura Hillman, was the guest lecturer. We were very inspired by her strength of character.

We had a lovely dinner out with Robin. Sorry, no pictures.
This morning we drove downtown to the Friday Farmer's Market and picked up some vegetables for tonight's dinner. Then we came home and made five Click-It Bags from Robin's pattern.
Jenny has plans for these. Aren't they cute?

MOJO IS BACK
My mojo is back. This quilt is one that I am going to quilt for our quilt guild, Quilters by the Sea. I didn’t piece it. I just picked it from the table of the many that “Need to be Quilted” pile.
Remember the bluebird.
My cousin, who is a birder, sent me this information about my picture:
The great picture of the bird is a Steller's Jay. Aren't you lucky? They love being in the forest all the way to sea level and particularly love urban backyards. He's a distinct California form. He has a blackish head, little bit of rusted color on back or sides and of course, the crest. The female and male look alike - little distinction. If they have a nest nearby, they both take care of the eggs and they only have one set a year. Usually about 3-5 eggs that incubate for 14-16 days and they leave the nest within four days following incubation. They are seed and acorn lovers. That's about all I know about them. Enjoy them while you can.

A FINISH
Something is finished. Really. Gosh, it’s been a dry spell. But, this weekend was set aside for quilting. This will be donated to Quilters by the Sea's community service group. My plan this year is to make quilts for the veterans. The pattern is “Out of the Box” by A Quilter’s Dream.
All the fabric (fat quarters) was pulled from my stash. I wasn’t happy when I started to piece it; nothing seemed to go together. But, I am determined to work with mostly my stash this year. We’ll see.
While photographing this quilt, this blue bird was keeping a close eye on what was happening. There must be a nest nearby. Now, is this a Blue Jay or a Scrub Jay? I always heard that there are no Blue Jays in California. But look at that crest. Let's just call it a Blue Bird.
Quilt happy,
Marilyn

SUNDAY SNAPS
SUNDAY SNAP SYNOPSIS (April 8, 2012)
The word is "Color", and being that it is Easter week, what better than the wonderful color of spring flowers.
Two Wacky Women had some "Mail" going out this week.
It was hard for me to deal with the word "Tiny". But sticking with my spring flowers..........
How about a nice spring "Lunch"?
"Inside my Wallet", seriously? The spring flowers once they opened a little is far more interesting.
Wishing you a very Happy Easter.
Quilt happy,
Marilyn

SUNDAY SNAPS
SUNDAY SNAP SYNOPSIS (April 1, 2012)
The word is "Key". I don't know why I have a Betty Boop key; but, I think it was the best choice at the time. And one that I would be able to spot right away.
"Name" I recently attended a quilting workshop and they had these for us. I named the chicken Hillary.
The word it "Trash". I love my gnome thread catcher. This spring's color is Tangerine Tango. What do you think? Close enough?
I couldn't decide on "Toy". Gracie's toys
or my toys.
Quilt happy,
Marilyn
