SUNDAY SNAPS

Golly Sunday gets here quickly, especially when life gets busy.  And, don’t we all get busy?  Today, I’m taking off and I’m going to play.

Once again I have the prompt that somehow includes me:  “Mirror”.  I tried getting a picture of only the mirror and somehow a part of me was always there.  Oh well….

The prompt is “Stranger”.  It was Yeats who said “There are no strangers here; only friends you haven't yet met.

I happen to be particularly fond of this “Heart”.

Oh gosh how I like “Sunshine” -- any time of the year.

This is a “Cup” of almond flour.  Oh my, it made great pumpkin muffins.

The Long Beach Quilt Festival is going on downtown.  That means shopping.  And this fabric is the “Last Thing I Bought”.  I’m going to make my mom a walker tote.  She loves flowers.

Hope you had a good week.

SUNDAY SNAPS

Everyone has some kind of addiction and “My Addiction” is fabric:  pre-cut fabric.  This is only a small sampling.  I would have to dig in all sorts of places to put it all together.

The prompt is “Plate”.  I think this is a perfect plate.

My brother has several pets.  This is the “Pet” cat, Nick.  Nick looks so innocent doesn’t he?  Don’t be fooled.  He brings live animals into the house.

These “Eyes” belong to Patches.  He is innocent.

“9:00 O’clock” in Kingman, Arizona.  It was an overcast day, monsoon on the way.

My newest quilt top right side up.

And “Upside Down”.

Hope you had a good week.

SUNDAY SNAPS

Do you have a favorite color? This is my “Favorite Color”.

The word is “Letter”.  This is a perfectly fine letter.

Isn’t “Texture” in fabric a great addition to a quilt?

There is nothing like being able to leave the doors “Open” on a summer day.

Here are the “Building” blocks to a quilt that is either an UFO or a WIP.  I think it's an UFO.

And, for a summer evening dinner -- “Finger” food is just about the perfect meal.

Hope you had a good week.

NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY

Sunday, July 15, 2012 is National Ice Cream Day.  Seriously!

“In 1984, Ronald Regan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday in July as National Ice Cream Day. Baskin-Robbins, the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty shops, commissioned an independent survey of 1,000 U.S. respondents to get the scoop on how Americans plan to enjoy ice cream this summer. According to the survey, 82 percent of Americans plan to enjoy ice cream during National Ice Cream Month this year.“

So go out and get an ice cream!  Wahoo!

FRIEND SWAP AND MORE

Yesterday my swap friend, Dara, received her package and I opened mine.  Thank you for such a wonderful package.  I love everything.  Just look at the goodies.

F - Fat quarters in Orange. Yum! And an FOD (Foreign Object Debris).

R - Red Strawberry, a mug Rug and Rick Rack

I - Insulated lunch tote and the Iron-on labels

E - Egyptian cotton spray.

N – Needles, Piecemakers' appliqué needles and sewing machine needles

D - Dish rags. Hand knit I might add.

S - Silk pins

Thank you, Dara, for being such a great swap partner.

And for the more.  Yesterday it rained here and it is raining again this morning.  That shouldn't be unusual except I live in Southern California and everyone knows it never rains in Southern California.  Well, never in July at least.  When I was a child and my mother would get frustrated over something, her standard line was "It will be a rainly day in July before I do that again".  Mom, it's a rainy day in July!

F-R-I-E-N-D-S

Sorry for this blurry picture.  It is the only one I took.  Teach me to always take at least two.  You can see I have resisted opening my package contents.

Dara, it’s on its way!  Give me a shout out when you get it, so we can O-pen, O-pen, O-pen.

Quilt happy,

Marilyn

SUNDAY SNAPS

Mondays are usually “Busy”.  Here is my “Busy” grocery store on Monday.

“Best Part of the Day” is always sewing.

Fireworks on the 4th of July is always “Fun”.

My ever-faithful Gracie is right beside me “On the Floor” while I sew.

On this “Chair” are projects that still need to be quilted. Some are still flimsies, some are ready-to-be quilted and one is even partially quilted.  I can hear them begging to be finished.  Still….

I can see some avocados in my “Garden”.  Love that tree.

It has been salads for “Lunch” lately -- all different, but good.

Hope you had a good week.

A GOOD MAIL DAY

Yesterday I didn’t get around to getting my mail until about midnight.  I know, what’s up with that?  It happens sometime.  And, I have one of those porch lights that lights up the entire neighborhood when motion is detected.  So, you know what happened, right?  Right.  Not a pretty picture. There, leaning against the door, were these two packages to take the sting away.

One was from Andee over at The Modern Diary.  I won a giveaway she held.  Thank you Andee for such a wonderful prize.

Isn’t it great?  I’m still ogling and awing over it.

The other package is from Dara over at Dara English.  We are in a Friendship Swap that Khristina from Sew Prim Khris put together.  Dara is the more organized of the two us.  I’m still finishing up her package.  Sorry Dara.  I promise to hold off opening it until you have your package.

It is going to sit on my side table and stare at me for a few more days.  Sigh……………  OK, off to ogle and aww some more.

Quilt happy,

Marilyn

KNITTING THAT SCARF

Most of us quilters dabble in other things crafty from time to time.  Right now knitting that scarf is all the rage.  You must know the one I am talking about.  This one.  The ruffly one.

Warning!  It is very addicting.  This is my 5th one.  And, I have more yarn.  I will say it is good TV activity and it can be finished in an evening.

This "ruffling" yarn can be found in a lot of places.  Most of it I have found at Michael's.  The one hanging on the right is from a local yarn show.  The grey in the first picture, I found at Hobby Lobby.  Are you making "That Scarf" yet?

Quilt or knit happy,
Marilyn

Wishing everyone a happy and safe 4th of July.

Please keep in mind that fireworks can be scary for our 4-legged friends.  The 5th of July is the busiest day for animal shelters.

SUNDAY SNAPS

“Something Cute” is my fur babies.

This is “Where I Shop” most of the time.

Here is a picture of my “Bathroom”.  Hey, I don’t pick these words.

 “Something Soft” see first picture.

The word(s) are “On the Shelf”.  Sadly this is only some of my projects.  Sigh……

  “Friend” see first picture.

Another “Self Portrait”, seriously?  Might as well have fun with it.

Quilt happy,

Marilyn
